‘Can You Spread This Please?’- Australian Tennis Star Daria Saville Shares a Ukrainian Mother’s Concerns

The geopolitical situation in the world is quite tense to say the least. Amidst rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine, several tennis players have opened up about the situation, promoting peace. Quite active on social media, Australian tennis star Daria Saville had been quite vocal in her support of Ukraine. She recently took to her social media to repost a plea from an Ukrainian mother.
This is not the first time that Saville has come out in support of Ukraine. Daria married Australian tennis player Luke Saville and emigrated to Australia.

She took a stand against violence from the very beginning of the crisis when the situation was escalating between Ukraine and Russia.

Daria Saville asks the “Tennis World” to amplify a message
Saville’s post contains a screenshot of what looks like a direct message by Iryna, mother of Mariia, a junior tennis player from Ukraine. She shed light upon what is happening on ground in Ukraine, and asked tennis facilities across the world for assistance. Saville did her bit by posting it on social media and asking for assistance by spreading the word in the hope of finding a right connection.

Iryna pointed out the infrastructural damage in her message and requested for temporary accommodations and training possibilities for junior players like her daughter.

“The bombs and rockets are hitting our houses, killing our people destroying my life. My hometown as well as other Ukrainian cities is under periodical bombings. A lot of buildings and facilities are destroyed. I would like to ask you about the opportunity to get temporary free accommodation and training possibilities in any Tennis academy for my daughter and other junior tennis players from Ukraine,” she said.

She ended her message by adding a heartfelt request to protect them from the realities and not hamper their hopes and dreams. “Please help to save our children.” Here is hoping that everything settles down soon.
