Svitolina is on a winning streak at the moment after a steep decline in performance at the end of 2021. However, she is on the rise back to her old form, winning against new challengers whom she had never beaten before. To celebrate her return to form, Svitolina decided to have a cold glass of beer.

First beating Azarenka in the first round, Svitolina rode a new high. She went on with new momentum to play against Daria Kasatkina in the second round of the Washington Open. The victory came easy for the Ukrainian player. She defeated the WTA-ranked number five in straight sets as the scoreboard showed 6-2, 6-2. The Russian player had to go home after being dispatched by Svitolina after a big win in the first round.

Going back to her hotel after the victory, Svitolina felt that she had to go big on the post-match celebrations. Therefore, she decided to ask her coach for a cold hard drink. The Tennis Letter shared a picture of her chat with coach Raemon Sluiter, where she begged for a beer with an image of wide-eyed Puss in Boots.

The need for a beer probably received a push by her victory after the first-round win. Beating Azarenka again became a big deal for the former World No. 3. However, Svitolina recently revealed a much more personal force driving her comeback and recent victories.

Svitolina’s first-round win cemented her gradual growth to being a title contender. Facing Azarenka in the opening bout of the Washington Open, the stakes were high for both players. But Elina emerged victorious in straight sets. Previously, the Ukrainian had lost five consecutive bouts against the ruthless Belarusian player. However, after returning from hiatus, the tables seemed to have turned.

Clearly, Svitolina is taking her revenge as she defeated Azarenka for the second time. The young mother jokingly deferred credit to her infant daughter, Skai since she only beat Azarenka after returning from her hiatus. Work deliberations aside, since Svitolina obviously put in the effort to improve, she deserves some celebration at least. Her coach certainly agrees!
