Canadian Sensation Eugenie Bouchard Sparkles Hint of a Strong Comeback on the Tour

Eugenie Bouchard has been out of the professional circuit since March 2021. The Canadian last played at the WTA 250 Monterrey Open, suffering a shoulder injury during her first-round loss to China’s Zhu Lin. The injury forced the former World No. 5 to undergo an arthroscopic surgery after attempting “every form of conservative treatment and rehab known to man.”
Bouchard hasn’t played a single match ever since the surgery. However, the 29-year-old has made sure to keep her fans engaged through social media. Throughout the span of the last few months, Bouchard shared a number of recovery videos, in which she has indulged in on-court/ off-court training o her various social media handles.

Recently, she tweeted about her practice session, hoping to return to the tour soon.

Bouchard, the 2014 Wimbledon runner-up, is known for her aggressive style of play. Having heavy groundstrokes, on both backhand, and forehand wings, the player often leaves her opponents struggling to withstand her powerful game. Predominantly a baseliner, Bouchard appears to be perfecting her game at the net.

Today, 9th April, Bouchard appears to be perfecting her backhand volley. The 2014 Wimbledon finalist took to her social media handle, uploading a post. Bouchard indulged in some backhand volley drills at the Saviano High-Performance Tennis Academy in Davie, Florida. She captioned the post, “Perfecting the backhand volley.”

Prior to this, Eugenie has uploaded a number of other training posts in the past. Her posts come in as a combination of on-court as well as off-court activities. Following her surgery in June 2021, Bouchard first uploaded a workout post in July, indulging in some static cycle cardio.

The much-awaited comeback of Bouchard
Bouchard has been out of the tour for over a year now. She last played at the 2021 Monterrey Open, suffering a shoulder injury. She underwent surgery last June. Even though Bouchard didn’t give an estimated time for recovery during her injury announcement, she confessed that she will be back soon. Her fans around the globe have been anticipating her return to the tour.
It remains to be seen how the 28-year-old Canadian fares once she makes her much-awaited comeback!
