In a recent interview with Forbes, the 29-year-old was asked about her thoughts on all the stereotypes surrounding her family background over the past few seasons. Jessica Pegula candidly spoke about the need for grit and hard work in any sport, suggesting that having a wealthy background does not guarantee success in the discipline.

Pegula also said, “Maybe some people who just don’t want to like me for whatever reason maybe will always say that. But I can’t really change their minds. I’ve worked really hard. I definitely wouldn’t have gotten here if it wasn’t for that.”
As she answered all the naysayers, Pegula asserted that her hard work made her one of the game’s top players and not her ‘billionaire’ tag. The American tennis player has undoubtedly paved her own path to success, earning recognition from a renowned coach as well.

American coach sings the praise of ‘role model’ Jessica Pegula
In the Doubles Only Tennis Podcast show, USPTA national coach Rick Macci expressed his respect and admiration for Pegula, who has been working hard on the court despite hailing from an affluent family. He said, “I get all that. But she’s a great role model that breaks the mould saying, Listen, I have everything and more. She’s a millionaire, her parents are billionaires. And she’s still hungry, because it’s about one thing.”
While labeling her as a ‘role model,’ Macci hailed the WTA player for her hard work and determination on the court. He added, “The competition, anybody, anytime, anywhere. And that’s what this is all about.”
