

Los Angeles Angels star, Shohei Ohtani capped off a brilliant performance to lead his team to victory over Oakland Athletics. Further, in one of his most memorable outings, he starred by throwing six shutout innings and launching a solo home run in the top of the seventh to hand his team a 5-1 victory.

Subsequently, Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian, was full of praise for the Japanese star, as he took to this Twitter account to express his awe for the Japanese-born star.

The Reddit co-founder took to Twitter to praise Ohtani for his heroics against Oakland Athletics. He said, “I can’t stress this enough — Ohtani is one of the best things to happen to baseball. The legend keeps growing.”

Despite being hit by a comebacker off the bat of Ramón Laureano, Ohtani stayed in the game to throw three more innings. Subsequently, he capped his brilliant night by smashing a home run to right field.
Talking about Ohtani’s brilliant performance, Athletics manager Mark Kotsay said, “It shows his athleticism, it shows his talent. At this point you could say that it’s one of a kind in the game, because it is. He’s the only player doing it right now and doing it well.”

Serena announces her retirement
The 23-time Grand Slam champion is into her final days on the professional tennis circuit. Recently, she revealed that the US Open, starting later this month, will be the final tournament of her career. It will mark the end of an illustrious career for the American legend, that saw her win 23 Grand Slam titles.

Serena is currently in Toronto to participate in the National Bank Open. She has reached the second round and will face Belinda Bencic of Switzerland later today. After this tournament, she will play at the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati before the US Open.
