Due to the postponement of the French Open 2021 by one week, the gap between it and the Wimbledon Championships 2021 has now been reduced to just two weeks. In a situation like this, many players are in doubt about whether they will be able to get sufficient time to train themselves for Wimbledon 2021. However, World No.1 Ashleigh Barty recently said that she would not miss that Grand Slam at any cost.
In a recent interview, Ashleigh Barty highlighted that playing the Wimbledon Championships 2021 is her preference right now. Even though she claimed that the tournament would be a little strange this year, she mentioned that it would be a shame to miss such an amazing event.
“It will be strange, without a doubt. But to be a little bit strange, to still be able to play Wimbledon, is certainly my preference. It would be a shame to not be able to play that incredible tournament,” said Barty.

Barty stated that all players take precautions and follow protocols. She is hopeful that people will soon get to witness some exciting tennis at Wimbledon 2021 along with the players.
“I think as players, but certainly from my point of view, we do the right thing, we do what we have to do to enjoy the fact we get to play at Wimbledon. Hopefully, then people are able to enjoy it with us,” added the World No. 1 player.
“There may be some crowds”- Ashleigh Barty
The Australian hoped that the situation would normalize in the UK during the time of the Grand Slam for people to start coming back to stadiums. Although she has heard that there will be relaxations, she is not aware of the whole plan as of now.
“There may be some crowds. I haven’t heard of what the plan of kind of easing of restrictions are there, so I’m not sure what the plan is. We’re still a couple months away yet. Hopefully in the UK things can settle down, and some sort of normality outside would be brilliant for everyone,” concluded Barty.
