Off-court activities are something tennis players often partake in. More often than not, such things help them cool off and catch a mental break from the tennis scene. Daria Kasatkina, is no different. The Russian player came to Charleston Open 2024 to wreak havoc and is succeeding in the task so far. However, she is also going around ensuring she is using her mind for other activities.

The former World No. 8 recently learned to make Sushi in a tournament with some tennis Hall of Famers. “Jennifer Brady was there. She was helping me, uh, with the Sushi. Tracy Austin was there also,” revealed Daria. However, she was not kind to those who worked with her as she critiqued the skills of an American legend.

Daria Kasatkina sat down with Tennis Channel following her quarterfinal victory at the 2024 Charleston Open. While she was digging deep for comeback victory, the Russian player revealed that she took some time off the “classic stuff” that happened in the past weeks.

On one hand, she managed to get good at the shushi-making skill, Daria found Tracy Austin’s skill to be lacking on the other. Bragging a little, Kasatkina said, “I was the best; mine was the most. Jennifer said, ‘You’re so beefy’ like, I put so much stuff inside, and I make a nice cone then I tried the Jenny’s, uh, was not Sushi; we made the hand rolls.”

While she praised the Jennifer’s hand rolls, Daria hilariously critiqued Tracy’s, “Yeah, so we. yeah, I tried the hand roll. It was not bad, was not bad, of course not, but she’s on the way. She’s good. Tracy did really not good.

Austin was critiqued by the Russian player, who will now face Jessica Pegula in the semifinal of the tournament. While some might find Kasatkina’s critique unsavory, the American legend confirmed her claims herself.
