Since the Melbourne setback, Serena only played select tournaments before the start of the French Open and was defeated by Elena Rybakina in the pre-quarters at Paris. Still, fans anticipated Serena to find the groove at Wimbledon.
But, an unfortunate sip on-court forced her to retire from the first-round match at SW19. Since then, the American didn’t participate in any other event and is currently resting to stage a comeback in Australia next year.
Unlike Serena, Venus participated in more events this year but exited from most of the tournaments in the opening rounds. The seven-time Grand Slam Champion will continue her passion for the sport next year and try to upset a few top-tier players during her on the 2022 WTA tour.
