Evert hit the headlines yet again after she showed her love and support to former World Number 4, Jelena Dokic of Australia.

Chris Evert reacts to Jelena Dokic’s nerve-wracking incident

The American legend took to Twitter to show her support for Dokic, who shared a nerve-wracking incident on social media. She wrote, “You are a strong woman! And you have tremendous love and support from afar.”

Earlier, Dokic took to Instagram to share one of the worst phases of her life. Explaining the events that unfolded during those trying times, she revealed, “28.04.2022-I almost jumped off my 26th floor balcony and took my own life. Will never forget the day. Everything is blurry. Everything is dark. No tone, no picture, nothing makes sense…..just tears, sadness, depression, anxiety and pain.”

Further, she explained the various negative emotions she went through and how she was trying to overcome them. In the past, players like Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios have also opened up about their mental health issues.

Osaka withdrew from the 2021 French Open after her first-round match and also missed the 2021 Wimbledon Championships.

Evert on Coco Gauff’s French Open exploits

Coco Gauff had a memorable French Open 2022 campaign. She reached the finals of the tournament in singles as well as doubles. However, she couldn’t overcome an in-form Iga Swiatek in the singles summit clash.

Talking about Gauff’s performance in the tournament, Evert said, “For Coco, this experience will be invaluable for her. She may not be happy right now, but she has this under her belt. The next time she reaches a final she will know what to expect, it won’t be new to her and can figure out what she can do differently.”
