The recent Turkey-Syria earthquake death toll revelation has shocked everyone, including the Croatian tennis player, Donna Vekić. She took to her Twitter handle to reveal that she is heartbroken and is praying for all the people affected by the tragic event. Chris Evert also came across the 26-year-old Twitter post concerning the tragic event in the South-Asian countries.

The American tennis legend revealed that she has been quite surprised and enraged by all the gossip surrounding the Grammys when something horrific is happening on another part of the earth. The ‘Ice Maiden’ slammed all the people interested in various celebs and their fashion sense amidst the devastating events in Turkey and Syria.

Evert while quote tweeting Vekic’s tweet, stated, “This horrific story is what we should focus on; praying and getting help to these people… not who looks disinterested at the Grammy’s or who has too many fillers..let’s focus on what’s important..🙏🙏🙏”

Evert previously used her platform to support a Ukrainian WTA player

The ban on Russian and Belarusian players from the previous season’s Wimbledon drew a lot of mixed reactions from the entire tennis community. It was announced amidst the Ukraine-Russia conflict and it created a lot of stir in the tennis realm. Some players were against the decision while some, including the Ukrainian WTA player, Elina Svitolina, welcomed the ban.

However, it was met with sharp criticism from the president of the Russian tennis federation, Shamil Tarpishchev. He was not impressed with her as she expressed her opinion on the ban. Tarpischev tried to neglect Svitolina’s reactions on the matter as he said that she is  “Absolutely nobody.”
