Chris Evert’s Ex-Husband Shines Bright in a Niche Sport as He Receives Special Honor for His Efforts

Tennis legend and now commentator Chris Evert‘s ex-husband is felicitated for his incredible contribution to fly fishing. Mill was a famous Alpine skier who later found his interest in fishing sport. Andy Mill is a two-time Olympian who represented the United States in the World Cup circuit as well. However, after retirement, he nurtured his hobby of fishing. Now he is being felicitated for his contribution to this interesting hobby.

Chris Evert married Mill in 1988 after Martina Navratilova introduced the duo to each other. However, the relationship didn’t last long and the couple parted ways in 2006. Serving on the board of the US Olympic Educational Ski Foundation, Mill has also chaired the National Atlantic Salmon Fishing Federation. Now this former skier is awarded with a special recognition.

The official Instagram page of the International Game Fish Association recently shared on their page that- “The IGFA is proud to announce the recipients of our 2024 Annual Awards. Comprised of six categories, each award honors a unique component of sport fishing including conservation, heavy tackle angling, light tackle angling, sportsmanship, freshwater angling, and fly fishing.
Joe Brooks Fly Fishing Award – Andy Mill. The IGFA Joe Brooks Fly Fishing Award was established in 2023 and acknowledges anglers who have made significant and outstanding contributions to the world of fly fishing.”

The page also addressed Mill’s diverse contribution to the field of sport as they added- “Andy Mill’s diverse career spans athletics, broadcasting, and angling, each marked by notable achievements. As a two-time Olympian and four-time World Championships skier, his valor at the 1976 Innsbruck Olympics earned him the “Olympic Skiing Award.” Inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame in 1993, Mill transitioned into a 20-year broadcasting career, covering esteemed events like the Olympics.”

Honored with inductions into The City of Aspen Hall of Fame and awards such as the Curt Gowdy Media Award, Mill’s contributions to fly fishing are commemorated with the 2024 IGFA Joe Brooks Fly Fishing Award, acknowledging his enduring impact.”

Andy Mill’s award represents that pursuing favorite hobbies with sheer dedication can bring such unbelievable feats for athletes. Despite being an Olympia Alpine Skier, Mills pursued his hobby of fly fishing, for which he received a special award from IGFA.
