

The love story of tennis star Sloane Stephens and soccer player Jozy Altidore goes back to their teenage days in Florida, when they both first bumped into each other. Sloane and Jozy had different paths since then and only bumped into each other in California five years ago.
Now, after years of getting to know each other, the couple decided to get married in an intimate ceremony on New Year’s Eve. Stephens took to social media to announce the news.

WTA stars congratulated Sloane Stephens and Jozy Altidore on their wedding
Naturally, the tennis world was excited to see Sloane getting married to Jozy Altidore and expressed their best wishes to the married couple.
Amongst the players to have commented were America’s rising tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff. The youngster wrote, “Congrats” with a couple of heart-eyes emojis.
Another American tennis star Madison keys commented, “You look so pretty but it’s the smiles for me”.
2015 US Open champion and Fabio Fognini’s wife Flavia Pennetta also commented, “bellissima”. Bellissima means ‘very beautiful’ in Italian. Amanda Anisimova is also one of the players to have reacted to the happy news as she wrote, “Congratulations ☺️”.

Last year’s Australian Open runner-up Jennifer Brady also commented with a ‘crown’ emoji to wish Sloane and Jozy.
In an interview given to Vogue, Stephens explained why they decided to get married on New Year’s Eve.
“I really liked the symbolism of starting a new year completely fresh with a new beginning—plus I fly to Australia to start my season soon so this is what needed to happen!”

Stephens is scheduled to play WTA 500 event in Adelaide
Jozy joked that getting married on New Year’s day will make it easy for both of them to remember their anniversary.

“The date will make our anniversary easy to remember! Since we both grew up in South Florida, Miami was the perfect place to bring our families together, and January is the best time of year to be there”.

Currently ranked no.65 in the world, Sloane Stephens is scheduled to play the WTA 500 event in Adelaide that begins from the tenth of this month. Last year, Stephens couldn’t make an impact any of the big tournaments and struggled to defeat top stars.

The American tennis star will look to turn the tables this year by producing a couple of stunning performances on WTA tour, starting with the Australian Open.
