The 20-year-old star has always stayed connected to her faith. She recently visited a church this month with her mother, Candi, and grandmother, Yvonne, to mark the holiday season. They also posed in front of a beautifully decorated Christmas tree with Gauff sharing the photo with the caption “3 generations.”
Coco Gauff always has had a habit of praying. In an interview with New York Times previously she opened up about her faith. She said, “Before every match since I was 8, my dad and I say a prayer together.” If that didn’t melt your heart, just wait and find out what she prays about. “We don’t really pray about victory, just that me and my opponent stay safe,” she said.
After her remarkable victory at the 2023 US Open, Gauff was seen kneeling on the court in prayer, expressing gratitude to God for granting her such a momentous achievement. But for Gauff, her faith extends far beyond celebrating victories—it’s also how she finds strength in the face of defeat. Reflecting on her heartbreaking loss to Iga Swiatek in the semifinals of the French Open, Gauff shared the perspective her faith gives her in tough moments. “That French Open loss was a heartbreak,” she admitted. “I realized God puts you through trials. This makes this moment even sweeter than I could imagine.”

In the same interview, Gauff spoke about the daily practices that help her deepen her spiritual connection and mental resilience. “I have two journals, and I read the Bible every day,” she revealed. “Then I have a personal one where I just write usually the night before I play. It’s something I’ve always done but just do it more frequently because it holds you accountable for your feelings and your thoughts.” This dedication to her faith and personal growth has been a constant in Gauff’s life, providing her with the strength to navigate the highs and lows of her career.
A season of highs, lows, and new beginnings for Coco Gauff
