Coco Gauff, the 18-year-old American tennis ace, is one of the most prominent players of the coming generation. However, the credit for her touching the heights at such an early stage of her career, apart from her own determination, goes to her parents’ dedication.

Gauff recently made a run till the finals of the clay-based Grand Slam and is looking strong in the grass. Currently, she is gearing up for the Eastbourne-based WTA 500 event. Though it doesn’t mean that she has forgotten about what the 19th of June stands for.

Even though the right-handed tennis ace lost a semifinal match on the 18th, she remembered to wish her father Corey Gauff on father’s day. However, Gauff currently is in England, and could not meet him on the occasion of a father’s day. She chose a social media platform to convey her gratitude to Corey. On Sunday, she took on Instagram and wrote Happy father’s day. Love you!

Further, both Gauff’s parents are veteran athletes. Her father is an ex-basketball player, while her mother is a former track and field athlete. Though the one who inspired her to become a professional tennis player is the 23 times Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.

The World no. 13 stepped on the red dirt of the French Open after giving a subpar performance in the entire clay season. Though mending all the odds, she displayed excellent tennis in France. Gauff survived the cutthroat tournament which took down seasoned players such as Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep in initial rounds. In fact, she flourished in those arid situations.

Gauff got the better of every opponent in straight sets, including the 2018 French Open runner-up Sloane Stephens and met Iga Swiatek in the finals. In the finals, after losing the first set by almost a bagel, she fought three points out of the pole’s embrace. But in the end Swiatek outclassed her in straight sets of 6-1, 6-3.
