Coco Gauff Dubbed to Match Serena Williams in Her Strongest Suit Following a Dominant Start to Australian Open

Coco Gauff‘s serve has been in the spotlight for some time now. Recently, her coach Brad Gilbert was seen roping his former pupil to help her improve her serve. And, now American tennis legend, Pam Shriver has stepped in saying Coco Guff’s serve can be as potent as Serena Williams‘.

Serena Williams’ serve used to be legendary. During her peak, her serve was regarded as one of the best in women’s games. Coming back to the present American prodigy, Shriver loves seeing team Coco Gauff putting effort into improving her ‘big weapon’.

Coco Guff’s strength has always been her powerful serve and great court coverage. With a little bit of accuracy, experts feel she can do wonders in the tennis world. Recently, Gilbert called in Andy Roddick to help Gauff fix her serve ahead of the Australian Open. Roddick’s serves is often regarded as one of the best of all time in the men’s game.

Pam Shriver recently gave an interview on ESPN where he revealed how lethal can Coco Gauff’s serve be with some little tweaks. “I love the fact that they are still tweeking with such a big weapon, the serve. Coco Gauff can have as good a serve, in my opinion, as Serena Williams had…I think she can have that good a serve,” said Shriver.

The 61-year-old American tennis legend is quite optimistic about Gauff’s progress. Recently Coco Gauff started her campaign at the Australian Open. Can she clinch her second major title by winning this tournament?

Gauff puts aside her serve woes to clinch a thumping victory at her first match in Australian Open

Ccoc Gauff defeated Slovakia’s Anna Karolina Schmiedlova by a 6-3,6-0 margin.  It took only an hour for the 19YO to seal the deal at the Rod Laver Arena. With this win, she has now moved to the next round, where she will face her compatriot Caroline Dolehide on Wednesday. Gauff managed to hit only 3 aces in the game against the Slovak. But her dominance on the second set shows us why she is regarded as one of the favorites for the first Grand Slam of the season.

Talking about serves, there’s no one even closer to Serena Williams’ impeccable records with her lethal weapon. Her perfect timing, power, disguise, and rhythm made her one of the best servers of all time. She could constantly hit the 125mph mark. Williams has hit more than 4000 aces in her career. In 2018, she had managed to hit a staggering 13 aces during her QF clash at the US Open.
