With the 2025 season knocking at the doors, we’re already seeing tennis stars taking up multiple approaches to keep themselves fresh and ready for the upcoming tournaments. The 2025 season will feature 116 tournaments on the ATP and the WTA calendars, starting with the third annual United Cup in Australia. American star, Coco Gauff who has had a decent outing in the 2024 season, will be keen to come up with better results in the next season. However, recently, German former tennis pro Andrea Petkovic sparked a major concern for players like Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and others ahead of their upcoming tournament in Down Under. What did she say?

Well, we’ve already seen Coco Gauff putting in some really hard work in her pre-season training sessions! A few days ago, she was seen undergoing some rigorous training, including bench presses, sprints, reverse crunches and even trying her hand at beach volleyball to boost her agility. Notably, cross-training has now become a key part of her workout regimen, and guess what? Coco Gauff recently shared a video clip on her IG and in that clip, she was seen showcasing her ‘fencing’ skills. Fans are thrilled after seeing these visuals on social media.

However, amid all of these, recently Andrea Petkovic raised a major concern surrounding all the players specifically from America and Europe. Well, traveling from Europe/America to Australia can be really exciting, but jet lag can quickly diminish the enthusiasm for the journey. People from those parts of the world know exactly what we’re talking about. Reflecting on those lines, Petkovic recently shared her thoughts on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

There will be no ASB Classic hat-trick for Coco Gauff in 2025 as she opted not to defend her title in Auckland. Instead, she will be representing her nation at the United Cup alongside her teammates, Danielle Collins and Taylor Fritz. She’ll be keen to get some wins under her belt before kick-starting her campaign at the AO. There are no doubts that she will target another Grand Slam title in 2025, but what do experts think about her chances in the next season?

Talking about her chances in 2025, Andy Roddick said the WTA Finals triumph would give Coco Gauff an edge in the 2025 season. “I think she’s prepped for a massive year next year,” said Roddick. Adding to the same lines, even Roger Federer’s ex-coach, Paul Annacone looked quite optimistic about Gauff’s chances in the AO. He said, “I’m going with Coco Gauff. I think Coco is going to have a strong interest and I think she’d have a strong off-season. She finished the year. Well, the WTA (Finals) did it, yep. So I’m looking for Coco.

What’s your perspective on:

Can Coco Gauff overcome jet lag to dominate the Australian Open, or will it hinder her performance?

Have an interesting take?

However, Serena Williams’ former coach Rennae Stubbs pointed out one of Gauff’s “biggest issues” while speaking on this topic. She said, “It will be interesting to see how going out of indoors – because we know playing indoors helps your serve…Her biggest issue is the serve, if she is double-faulting she is hurting herself big time. I think she is a real threat at the Australian Open if that is under control.” Her words definitely have something. Do you think Coco Gauff can win the title in Melbourne next season?
