Coco Gauff’s love for her mother knows no bounds. The young starlet rose to fame early and shines under the spotlight, yet she remains down to earth when talking about her life. Her mother, Candi, notably quit her job to homeschool Coco, dedicating herself fully to her daughter’s training and well-being.

On May 11, Mother’s Day, Coco shared her love for Candi on Instagram. She posted a picture from the Oscars, where Coco wore a chic yellow gown paired with diamond earrings and a stunning Rolex gold watch, while her mother dazzled in a glittering metallic dress. The 21-year-old star wrote, “Happy mother’s day to my favorite date 🩷 I love you @candigauff.” Sweet, right?

Just after defeating Magda Linette in the round of 32 in Rome, Coco spoke to Tennis Channel. She mentioned she hadn’t had gelato once while there! Since it was Mother’s Day, she planned a nice night out for Candi. “I’m going to take her to dinner and get some flowers for her. My dad and my brothers already sent her flowers so I’m kind of slacking on that. And I had a match today, and she said the best gift was that if I could win. I did that, so anything else is extra,” Coco said.

She also noted they often go out to dinner while on tour, and she usually pays the bill. “Every day is mother’s day for her!” she added. The 21-year-old clearly adores her mom, and why wouldn’t she? Candi has been a constant support since day one of Coco’s tennis journey. She’s always posting about how proud she is of Coco and her siblings, hyping them up on social media. It’s adorable to watch.

On May 10, Yvonne Lee Odom turned 75! Coco and her mom jumped at the chance to celebrate this Delray Beach legend on her special day. First, Candi led the birthday cheer with heartfelt Instagram stories dedicated to her mom. One snap showed them both beaming in purple, pure joy shining through. Another captured Yvonne proudly holding an award. Candi’s caption said it all: “Guess what? It’s my mom’s birthday! Yvonne Odom. Let’s wish my mom a happy birthday. I love you! Today is your day, especially designed for YOU!”

Taking a cue from her mom, Coco shared her love on Instagram too. She posted a collage of four photos-three with her and her grandmother, and one of Yvonne rocking a stunning purple dress. Coco wrote, “Happy birthday to my beautiful grandmother, thank you for helping to shape me to the woman I am today, I love you @yvonne.odom.”

Yvonne Lee Odom’s impact on Coco has been clear throughout her life. Gauff often credits her grandmother for shaping who she is. After winning the US Open in 2023, Coco said, “She always taught me to approach every situation with kindness and understanding. For her to go through what she did during that time is something that I think … what I do – putting out a tweet or saying a speech – is so easy compared to that.”
