Coco Gauff is having a breakout season after her stunning run to the Roland Garros final last week. Despite a tough draw, the young American reached the summit clash, losing to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek in the final.

Despite the loss, Gauff has many reasons to smile about. She is now ranked in the Top 15 of the WTA rankings at the age of 18. Gauff now moves to the grass courts of Wimbledon later this month.

Coco Gauff reacts to Leylah Fernandez’s injury

Gauff consoled her young adversary Fernandez after the latter suffered an injury at Roland Garros. The US Open finalist reached the quarter-finals, losing to Martina Trevisan. She uploaded a post on Instagram captioned, “Happy Wednesday! Just wanted to share a life update, unfortunately I fractured my foot.”

“In need of some well wishes more than ever. The fight in me will continue just after some PT appointments. Have any good podcast, show, or book recommendations?!” she added. Gauff was among the first to write a message for the Canadian, sending three heart emojis.

Gauff’s incredible 2022 season

Gauff has also won two WTA Tour singles titles and four doubles titles since her debut in May 2018. Moreover, the youngster has been in sensational form ever since January, becoming the youngest finalist in a Grand Slam since Maria Sharapova in 2005.

Gauff’s rise to World No. 13 in the rankings comes right before the home leg of the year. After Wimbledon, she will get to prepare for the US Open in Flushing Meadows, New York.

The 18-year-old has a huge career ahead of her and she’s only getting started. Gauff will aim to follow in the footsteps of Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who has already claimed two ATP 1000 titles in his young career, and subsequently securing a spot in the Top 10.
