It is hard to find a friend like Coco Gauff. The reigning US Open champion’s senior at her Florida training center can vouch for that pretty well. Despite having a setback with her semifinal match against Jessica Pegula in Berlin, Gauff showcased her usual off-court charm by showering a blessing on Alycia Parks‘ recent feat in Italy.

Happy for her friend, Gauff congratulated Alycia Park on her doubles win at the Veneto Open with Hailey Baptiste. The official Instagram page of the tour shared an image of the winners holding up their prize after their victory and wrote, “DOUBLE’S WINNERS 💜🇺🇸 Congrats girls on this win. Best of luck! 🌱#venetopen2024.” Veneto Open shared an additional picture of the American WTA stars hugging each other after their win. The post caught the eye of the US Open champion, who wrote, “aye congrats 🔥.”

The American duo played a fantastic game to defeat Czech Republican duo Anna Siskova and Miriam Kolodziejova by 7(7)-6(4), 6-2 yesterday on the center court. Gauff, who recently showed her doubles skill in the Roland Garros finals, was impressed by Parks and Baptiste’s skills on the grass court in Italy.

The reigning US Open champion and Parks share a long connection as they grew up and practiced in Delray Beach, Florida. Gauff has always showered love on Parks, even when they defeated her in their first encounter in the third round of this season’s Australian Open. Despite defeating Parks by 6-0, 6-2 Gauff hugged her opponent and whispered, “Next time, we play in the finals.”

The video was captured and shared by ESPNW on Instagram, and Gauff’s mother, Candi Gauff, showed her love for this amazing friendship. Gauff also praised Parks post-victory in the Australian Open, as she shows her bond with the player.

Coco Gauff addresses the danger of ‘the most athletic‘ player on Tour

Despite winning against Parks, the reigning US Open champion showed her affection towards her fellow American colleague and opponent with humble compliments. “I have known her for a long time, since I was maybe 9 years old. Used to practice with her and her sister, I know her very well. I always root for her … obviously, not for the next match”- she said.

In fact, before their match, Gauff mentioned Parks’ positive facts as a tennis player. “She has a big game, big serve, big shots, very athletic. I think she’s one of the most, if not the most, athletic players on tour. It’s going to be a tough match. I don’t expect it to be easy,”- said Gauff.
