Novak Djokovic started his much-awaited Australian Open campaign as he faced Croatia’s Dino Prizmic. The match was filled with excitement as players from both ends had their own moments during the match. Eventually, it was the Serbian who laid his hands on the victory, in a 4-set battle. At one point, it looked like the Croatian would come up with a major setback for the 24-time grand slam winner. But, it was the Serbian, who managed to bounce back on his feet and take charge of things.

Reflecting on the same, the head coach of Coco Gauff, Brad Gilbert came ahead and talked about how well the Serbian manages to handle his body during these intense moments. Not only this, he also suggested that the Serbian is probably the best when it comes to 5 sets.

In a recent tweet, Coco Gauff’s coach, Brad Gilbert, gave a big thumbs up to Novak Djokovic for his incredible skill in handling his body during long tennis matches, especially the Best of 5 (B05) ones. Gilbert pointed out how Djokovic strategically went after his Prizmic’s legs during the Serb’s first-round match, making it tough for him.

According to Gilbert, Djokovic took his game up a notch, showing how cleverly he manages himself, especially in the challenging B05 matches. Djoker finally getting to the legs of Dino, that was punishing last couple games, ND took it up  a notch, such a genius at managing himself in greatness of B05 matches,” said Gilbert in the tweet.

Gilbert calls Djokovic the perfect blend of 2 former legends of the game

In a podcast back in 2023, Gilbert came ahead and suggested that Novak Djokovic is the perfect blend of Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl put together.  Joining his company was none other than John McEnro0e who simply acknowledged the fact while suggesting that the only difference among them is the fact that the Serbian is very fast.

“I really believe that if you put Andre Agassi and Ivan Lendl in the blender, you get Novak Djokovic,” Gilbert said. McEnroe suggested: “The only difference is that Djokovic is lightening fast. Both those guys, Agassi and Lendl, were quick and could cover the court, but they weren’t lightening fast and as quick as Novak.”

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ?Fedal? fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
