With her raw talent and unwavering dedication, Coco Gauff has become an iconic name in the world of tennis, where every match is a test of skill, tenacity, and mental fortitude. Former tennis champion Andy Roddick believes that Gauff’s path is still in the early stages and is replete with opportunities and difficult phases.
Gauff, who is only 20 years old, has already demonstrated incredible skills on the court, including two semifinal appearances in 2024. Although she has accomplished a lot, Roddick believes Gauff hasn’t yet reached her full potential, calling her the “best struggle player maybe on Earth.”

Andy Roddick’s appreciation for Coco Gauff
Andy Roddick recognizes Gauff’s fortitude in the face of difficulty in his evaluation made on his podcast called “Served with Andy.” She keeps moving forward despite obstacles and disappointments, refusing to let her limits define her. “Coco does what Coco does, like she’s the best struggle player maybe on Earth where the surf isn’t working. The forehand wasn’t working all of a sudden. She still grinds out a semi-final and was this close to making a final,” Roddick said, referring to the improvement in her forehand skills that recently garnered a lot of attention after her defeat at Indian Wells.
Coco Gauff has appeared in two semi-finals this year, first when Aryna Sabalenka defeated her at the Australian Open, then Maria Sakkari at Indian Wells. Referring to these back-to-back setbacks on court, Andy Roddick further said, “I don’t think she’s played her best tennis this season so far. And she has a semi in Australia, semi Indian Wells. Her bad stuff is still top six or seven in the world.”
Not only Andy Roddick, but Gauff recently posted an Instagram story where her fans also cheered her up through heartfelt messages.
