However, the 19-year-old Coco Gauff was resilient enough to engrave her name on the US Open trophy. This led Sabalenka to face a heart-shattering defeat at the major. Starting in a dominant style, Sabalenka must have believed she had the victory. But Gauff persevered mentally and physically on the court, leading Sabalenka to cope with the loss in some unconventional manner.

The Belarusian tennis star has climbed up to the top spot of being the world no. 1 player. However, gaining a Grand Slam title would have increased her happiness. But now the loss is giving her ideas to deal with it by following a cheat code.

The Belarusian tennis star is not known for her mental perseverance on the court. On the other hand, Gauff had the patience and the grit to turn the match in her favor after the first set. Losing majorly in the first set, Gauff chased points which looked probably impossible.

However, Gauff gave it all, speeding around the court, gaining every point here and there and eventually turning the tide in her favor. Shutting down her haters, she has proved her worth on the court.

This is something Sabalenka witnessed herself and probably realized too. That is why, her newly attained world no. 1 ranking provided her a little respite. During her post-match conference, she was asked how knowing she still has the world no. 1 ranking changed her reaction to the loss. She stated, “Probably, that’s why I am not super depressed right now.”

However, that did not solve the loss Sabalenka faced against Gauff. So, she confessed her next course of action, “I am definitely going to be. I’m definitely going for a drink tonight.”

Giving an explanation for her decision, she stated with a laugh, “Yeah, we are athletes but sometimes we are drinking but not much.”

Though Sabalenka is keen on coping with a drink or two, she did not undermine the support she had from her fans, even if she had a little complaint for them.

The Belarusian tennis star has seen swift growth in her professional tennis career. This consequently has brought in a lot of fans cheering for her success on the court. That is why she recently took to her Twitter to thank her fans and loved ones.

She stated, “Tennis is a tough sport. Sometimes you just have to learn to become better!” Then she thanked her team for supporting her throughout. She also gave a shout-out to her fans for cheering for her at the US Open.

But she understood she did not have as much support as she would have loved. She added, “New York is definitely one of my favorite places and you guys are amazing even though did not support me much today!”

Being in the USA, the home turf of her opponent Coco Gauff, the stadium definitely saw a bias towards the American player. Eventually, it was Gauff who won both the trophy as well as the hearts of her fans.
