The conditions in the WTA Finals were terrible, to say the least. Videos from the tournament showing the disruptions of the matches and the state of the players have been shared by almost every tennis outlet. One video showed Coco Gauff with a hilarious voiceover as her umbrella was destroyed. Watching the video, Ben Shelton couldn’t help but pity the American sensation.

Shelton and Gauff can often be seen having banter with each other. Their interaction online often turns to poking at each other. Their bond even began dating rumors. They are growing like forest fires this year, and their current interaction might give birth to another round of dating rumors.

From day 1 of the 2023 WTA Finals, each player came out and talked about the horrible courts of the makeshift stadium in Cancun. Several videos went viral showing the horrid conditions of the courts and the volatile weather. Rain constantly delayed matches, and the winds troubled players often. A video of Gauff holding an umbrella during a break went viral.

Gauff was unable to cover herself from the rain as her umbrella quickly bent and the inner canopy of the umbrella turned outwards. Tennis Channel shared the video with a voiceover that said, “Well, its a really great day today. Can’t wait for tomorrow“, and the voice became more sobby with each word. Shelton reshared the video on his Instagram story with the caption, “Nah 😭 @cocogauff“. The two often banter with each other, and their conversation on social media created dating rumors between the two.

Gauff and Shelton have been close friends for a long time, and they have always celebrated their achievements.
