Recently, he added a new team to his growing list of investments, which he was able to own with his wife, Serena Williams, and her sister Venus Williams. It is the first golf club in the TGL League created by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Tiger Woods was disappointed by the move as he was against LIV and its defectors from the beginning. While Woods felt betrayed, he had something else on his mind. He began the TGL, a virtual golf league, alongside Rory McIlroy when they invested approximately $14.7 million in the league.

The investments paid off as the Los Angeles Golf Club was bought by Venus Williams, Serena Williams, and Alexis Ohanian. It was one of the first teams to be bought, and now, Ohanian pulled out all the stops to promote the team and the league. After success with the LAGC merch, the Reddit co-founder is aiming to promote his team once again.

During an event, Ohanian talked to the owners of the Boston team of TGL, The Fenway Group. He spoke to John W. Henry and said, “We’re coming for North Cal, that’s right, John. It’s not just Los Angeles; we’re coming for all of California.”

Along with his boisterous attitude, he also added the caption, “Nothing can stop me from recording this @wearelagc thank you video!” While proving to be a successful venture, Ohanian could not have taken part in the investment if not for his success with Angel City FC.

Why Alexis Ohanian bought Angel City FC?

Alexis Ohanian invested in Angel City FC in 2022. The NWSL team was a start-up when Ohanian was interested in it and now stands at a worth of $100 million, a whopping amount. However, the venture could not have been possible if Alex Morgan did not inspire Ohanian. The Reddit cofounder shared how the USWNT’s last triumph at the World Cup inspired Olympia to run around in the jersey of Alex Morgan. It led to a conversation between Ohanian and Serena about the possibility of Olympia playing for the national team in the future, which ended with a serious discussion about gender pay disparity in sports.
