The stage is all set in Charleston for the 51st edition of the Credit One Charleston Open. The draw is already out and the American tennis star and world no.5 Jessica Pegula along with the defending champion and no.6 from Tunisia, Ons Jabeur is placed with Maria Sakkari and Daria Kasatkina as the top four seeds at this WTA 500 tournament. The action is set to begin at the Credit One Stadium on April 1. However, fans are already angry at the WTA’s ‘lack of professionalism’.

Hours before the start of the prestigious women’s tennis tournament at the ‘Holy City’, the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) has come up in the headlines for a peculiar reason. What’s that? Well, WTA Insider recently released an update on the Charleston Open, where they wrote it as a WTA 5000 event instead of WTA 500. How did the fans react after seeing this blunder from WTA?

During the 1990-2008, Charleston Open was classified as a WTA Tier I event but in 2009 it was downgraded to a WTA Premier tournament. However, 12 years later, WTA reorganized its schedule and the tournament was classified as WTA 500 tournament. Now, after seeing this error from the WTA itself, fans have already started to come out with their guns blazing.

One of the fans was shocked by this tweet, she wondered what kind of tournament is a 5000.

Fans believe that the WTA must properly post the details of their own tournament, and even if there is a mistake, they should be quick to rectify it. As they failed to do so, another fan pointed it out with a sharp tone.

The other lashed out at the women’s tour stating, “Such a lack of professionalism from the women’s tour not to have an active monitoring of your social media content.

The fan was surprised to see the inaction from the WTA side even after 3 hours since that error was posted on social media. Fans question why no one was able to edit it.

Another fan, hilariously trolled them saying they can feel free to add as many zeroes as they want. “There’s no limit for the one who tries,” the fan added.

This was a rather sarcastic take on the WTA. While this fan chose to be humorous, the next reaction came with a not-so-good label for the WTA.

Some of them even went a little too further and called it the “Worst website on the internet.

However, the important word in this reaction is ‘still’, which signifies that fans have been perpetually frustrated with the WTA website’s carelessness.

Admin am coming for ur job wta 5000,” added the other fan.

The main draw of the Credit One Charleston Open is set to take place on Monday and the singles and doubles finals will be taking place next Sunday, i.e. April 7. Let’s look at more detailed information about the 51st edition of the Credit One Charleston Open.
