Rick Macci, Venus and Serena Williams’ longtime coach during their teen years, recently spoke about an interesting story. He narrated a wonderful anecdote about Serena and her sense of humor. And how she has achieved her goal of being the finest player in the world.

Macci recalls Serena Williams’ ‘Prankster’ incident 

Talking about Serena, in an interview, Macci said, “Serena was a little prankster. I’d say move your feet, she’d go why. I said you tell me you want to be number one she goes, I will be number one. She give me that look that you see at the U.S. Open, a lot of people watching this know what that looks like she had that look at 10 years old.”

Further, he went on to recall an incident. He said, “She told me, Rick, I’m really really hungry can you tell Scott to go to the machine and get me hot curly fries and a snicker bar and a Pepsi and a green day T-shirt? For the next 15 minutes, she was having her snack. For the next hour, this little girl was popping the popcorn, extra butter just non-stop for one hour sweats coming off her like the Niagara Falls and she was like Rick, you better have that T-shirt in the morning.”

He revealed her crafty side. The American coach also emphasized her love of fast food and how forceful she was when she wanted anything, which he felt was a good sign signaling her competitive spirit. Macci still laughs uncontrollably when he recalls these stories about Prankster Serena.

Williams is playing her last tournament

Williams defeated World No. 2 Anett Kontaveit in the second round of the U.S. Open with a score of 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2 to guarantee that she will compete in at least one more qualifying match at her final major championship.
