Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova ruled the tennis courts back in the 90s. Both of the tennis players have their own different aura whenever they walked in on the tennis courts. Although their rivalry on the tennis court was what made both tennis players famous. They eventually became good friends and were even occasionally seen together as their friendship grew over time. Evert and Navratilova, though, talked about how they were quite different from one another back in 2008.

A classic rivalry between two well-known tennis players was enjoyed by every tennis fan of that time. Not only that, but it also bought a good name and fame for the sport.

Martina Navratilova remarked how she is different from Chris Evert 

When it came to playing nature, both the legendary tennis players were totally opposite from each other. It was always a deadly fire and ice duo seen on the court, standing against each other.

The American tennis player, Evert, was very calculated and strong-faced. She won’t even let her opponent know her next move. She said, “My dad told me at a very young age, Don’t let your opponent see how you’re feeling if you’re losing because they’ll use it to their advantage.”

On the other hand, her arch-rival, Navratilova, was quite expressive on the tennis court and had her emotions over her sleeves all the time. However, the 59-time Grand Slam champion explained and said, “I couldn’t keep it inside, but nobody ever told me that I should, So I was pretty much on my own, at least from the neck up.” According to the 66-year-old tennis player, it was hard to bottle things inside when she was out alone creating her own name.

Evert and Navratilova rivalry 

Both of them were fierce competitors on the tennis court during their era, maintaining career-long world number one and two rankings. Evert dominated their matches at the start of the rivalry. The Czechoslovak tennis player didn’t like losing, though.

Both players provided the tennis world with some incredible matches to remember for a lifetime for nearly 15 years. According to their statistics, they had 80 encounters with one another during their tennis careers. In 1973 in Akron, the two came face to face for the first time. And during the 1988 Chicago Open championship match, they played their last game.
