Tennis legend Serena Williams has announced her retirement after giving 27 years of her life to tennis. Now, after her retirement, we will see her pursuing other endeavors in diverse fields. As the first step towards that goal, the player recently introduced the members of Serena Williams Design Crew, a unique initiative in the world of design.

She has established herself as one of the best tennis players to grace the realm of tennis. Even during her busy schedule while training, she ventured into various fields apart from tennis. Now, Serena aims to dominate the world of design through her newest venture.

Serena Williams Design Crew initiative with Nike

The 23-time grand slam champion expresses her views openly, and this comes out in her fashion too. She has always been bold, both on and off the court. So, she has formed a Design Crew in collaboration with Nike’s designers and mentors, and worked with 10 new designers to inculcate diversity in the designs.

She took to her Instagram to introduce that and stated, “Serena Williams Design Crew was created to change the world of design and pass the mic to fresh faces and diverse voices.” Furthermore, she introduced the two members of her crew and stated, “For Emiko McCoy and Juan Huerta, their journeys are proof that people from all walks of life deserve to dream big.”

Emiko McCoy, the apparel designer of the crew, was all praises for the legendary player. She said, “Oh you know we can talk about Serena all day. I just remember being in New York and I would see Serena Williams on the billboard.”

She further talked about how the legendary American had inspired her, “It definitely inspired me not because it was about being on top of her game but also because she looked like me.”  

What are some other fields that she can venture into after her retirement?

Serena Williams has built a huge empire in various fields where she can invest her time after retirement. She will implement the resilience that she has gathered from her time on the WTA tour in her other fields.
