Current Australian cricketers wouldn’t mind if Ashleigh Barty returns to cricket

A few days back, the Australian women’s cricket team clinched their seventh World Cup title after beating England in the final. The winning captain, Meg Lanning, talked about getting surprised after hearing about Barty’s retirement. “I was surprised. I think we all were. You don’t expect someone who’s going so well and dominating to call time. It’s a very brave call.”

Meanwhile, one of the greatest ever Australian cricketers Ellyse Perry also chimed in with her opinion about Barty’s sudden retirement. “She genuinely tends to buck the norm a little bit and do what’s best for her which is just really cool. It sounds like golf is in with a better chance (than cricket). It’d be really nice for her to be able to do what she wants to do.”

Notably, Barty played in the first-ever Women’s Big Bash League for Brisbane Heat in the 2015-16 season. After that, she returned to tennis in 2016 and became one of the best players in the world.
