Just one Grand Slam title separated Serena Williams from the former Australian tennis player, Margaret Court, who holds the record of 24 Grand Slam victories. But recently, Court questioned Williams’ legacy by claiming that the circumstances under which she had to play were more challenging than Williams. As a result, Alexis Ohanian, Serena’s husband, took an indirect swipe at Court on Twitter.

Ohanian has been very vocal on social media, particularly when it comes to defending his wife from negative criticism. This was again evident when Court levied her criticism on Serena.
Alexis Ohanian defended Serena Williams
Ohanian took to Twitter to take an indirect dig at Margaret Court, who questioned his wife’s legacy. He stated, “Imagine a credible @NFL journalist talking seriously about the 8 Championships of the illustrious Cleveland Browns… You can’t — they (rightly) don’t — and those were in PROFESSIONAL leagues (1946–49, 1950, 1954–55, 1964).”

Alexis gave a hypothetical example of two prominent NFL teams to take an indirect swipe at Court’s criticism. Previously, Court stated that Serena played in a “much easier” era. She said that it was much easier for her to win titles in the Open Era.
He further added, “I dare someone to interrupt a convo live on @ESPN about the New England Patriots dynasty and say “Well, hold on, if we’re talking about greatness, let’s talk about the Cleveland Browns.”
Alexis Ohanian indirectly responded to Court’s criticism by comparing Williams and Court to the New England Patriots and Cleveland Browns. They are both great teams, but the only difference is that their legacies were built in two different eras, just like Williams and Court. So, the cofounder of Reddit emphasized how peculiar it is to compare two legacies built in different eras.
