Simona Halep was given a four-year ban in September last year for two breaches of anti-doping rules. But at the same time, the former world number one is quite confident about returning to the tennis arena after appealing against the ban. Her doping trial began around ten days ago, and amidst all this, the Romanian tennis star shared a glimpse of herself on the court.

After having a three-day hearing in the Court of Arbitration for Sport that concluded on February 9, Halep took to her Instagram account to share a picture of herself on the court enjoying the sport she loves. In the post, the two-time Grand Slam champion can be seen gearing up for a serve under the sun. Along with that, rather than writing a caption, she added an emoji with smiling eyes and rosy cheeks expressing her happiness.

Halep is not allowed to be a part of the professional circuit because of the ban that she received from the two different doping accusations that she has been suspected of. However, she never forgets to cherish her love for the sport and tries to keep herself involved in the game. She remains hopeful of returning to the game, as she reaffirmed her innocence after her three-day trial.

Speaking to the reporters outside the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the Swiss city of Lausanne. as quoted by Reuters, Halep said, “I had the chance to show my defense and I really believe that the truth is going to come out and the day to be on court is going to be soon.”

Halep is under provisional suspension since October 2022 following a positive test for the substance roxadustat during the U.S. Open. She also faced allegations from tennis’s anti-doping officials who out inconsistencies within her Athlete Biological Passport (ABP)—a system that tracks variations in blood markers over time, which can indicate doping practices.

On the other hand, the former Wimbledon champion brought a new angle to her doping allegation by taking a huge step. Recently, Halep sued a health supplement company for damages of around $10 million.

Halep takes legal action against a health supplement company 

As the 32-year-old tennis player is fighting to prove herself innocent she recently submitted a legal complaint to a New York state court in Manhattan. The Romanian tennis player will now be pursuing legal action against the Canadian health supplements company for the damages that they have caused her, claiming to be around $10 million.

According to CNN, Halep utilized Schinoussa supplements, manufactured by Quantum Nutrition, during the 2022 US Open. She tested positive for roxadustat shortly after the competition. According to Halep, this information was not indicated on the product label, and this led her to file a case against the corporation for negligent and insignificant product development.

Her Instagram post indicates she remains hopeful of a quick return to the court.
