Caroline Wozniacki found a reality check

Samantha Stosur is an Australian tennis great who has won several tournaments during her active stint. The 2011 US Open champion now exclusively plays doubles and mixed-doubles tennis. After her long career, Stosur has enough experience to analyze a player’s style. Amidst the highly anticipated return of Caroline Wozniacki, Stosur stated that her weaknesses might overshadow the excitement of her return.

In a podcast called ‘The AO Show’, Stosur discussed the excitement around the Dane’s return. “I’m excited to watch her play. She’s kept in incredible shape since she. Are we saying she retired? She actually retired. Yeah. So you know, I think she was out running a couple of marathons after retirement, as you do. I can’t say I did that one“.

While Stosur lauded her efforts to stay fit, she also talked about the missing aspects of her game. According to her, nobody can foretell the outcome of games against players like Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina. She elaborated, But at the time she retired, I would say what was missing was power. She was lacking power … she always kind of had great court craft. So it’ll be really interesting to see. I don’t think she’s added power to her game, but we’ll see. It’ll be interesting to see how that stacks up against, you know, some of the bigger hitters in the game like, you know, Sabalenka and Rybakina“.
