The American tennis legend, Venus Williams‘ on-court prowess, and sheer brilliance have always been appreciated by tennis fans and legends alike. Consequently, some of the greatest tennis players in the history of sports have frequently applauded Williams’ contribution. Recently, post-Williams’ match at ASB Classic, Lindsay Davenport lavished praises on the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion for her sheer fighting spirit.

Davenport was impressed by the 42-year-old will to give her all in every match. Notably, the former American tennis player commended the immense potential that Williams possesses despite her age; which could further her career and contribution to tennis.

Williams, the elder of the famous Williams siblings, crashed out of ASB classics after a tragic 2nd-round loss. However, her will to leave everything on the court at the time didn’t go unnoticed. As the Hall of Famer, in a recent tennis channel conference, commended Venus Williams’ remarkable journey on the WTA tour.

Additionally, Davenport also talked about the 7-time singles Grand Slam champion’s plans for her journey on the court. Currently, Williams is making her 30th WTA season appearance at the age of 42.

Once Williams’ rival, Davenport, believes that the former World No.1 can still deepen her mark on-court if she manages to stay injury-free. Moreover, the former tennis player has been consistently amazed by Williams’ fighting spirit and grit.

However, the Hall of Famer believes that despite her never say never attitude; Williams may not participate in all the tournaments; due to her repeated struggles with injuries and other issues. She said, “But her attitude is remarkable, and her fighting spirit, you always see it on the court, even if things are not going her way.“

During the interview, Davenport also talked about Williams’ chances to play the majors this season. However, the American tennis star hasn’t revealed anything particular about her plans. Davenport anticipated Williams’ eagle-eyed focus on the US Open, this season.

Davenport believes that the 7- time Grand Slam would prefer the same kind of support and energy that her sister received in the US Open. Venus is already going to miss the season’s first Grand Slam event due to an injury.
