American tennis star Coco Gauff is having an exceptional year. The 18-year-old has become the youngest after Maria Sharapova to qualify for the WTA Finals. The American’s consistent performance also helped her rise on the ranking ladder. However, there’s one problem with her. The world number four has failed to capitalize on her early success. She found it hard to win crucial matches in the tournaments.

However, the American never ran away from admitting her drawbacks and never gave any excuses. That’s what makes her very similar to NASCAR star Bubba Wallace. Coming from a minority community, they both could have given various reasons to hide their failures.
Coco Gauff and Bubba Wallace have a thing in common
Both Coco Gauff and Bubba Wallace are doing great in their respective sport. But there’s always a question about them. Can they do better? They definitely can. There were chances for both athletes that they could have done much better. However, there are a few shortcomings in their game and they have accepted them.
They could have easily blamed their challenges on the problems they faced, but they refused to do so. In a podcast, the host spoke about such athletes and how they make the game better.
Speaking about the wonderful quality of Gauff and Wallace, the podcast host said, “They also had to battle through a number of adversities……. You have to learn how to battle through adversities and not make excuses. Coco Gauff’s comment about Iron sharpens Iron when she was referring to Iga Swiatek. I think it’s relatable to NASCAR in that sense.”
He further added, “You have got to find a way to learn how to do that in your situation. Whether it’s Coco Gauff, whether it’s NASCAR, I have an appreciation when athletes find a way to not b**ch moaning complaining about their circumstances but instead try to gain something from it. That, I think, is good for the sport.”
It is too early to judge a young player like Gauff, but she has shown tremendous grit. She will definitely get better with time, and this special quality is what makes her unique.

Gauff and Swiatek to face off for the sixth time in two years
American tennis star Coco Gauff and world number one Iga Swiatek have played each other quite frequently in the past two years. The reason is their consistent performance. Both the girls have done well this year, and that makes them cross paths at a higher level. Earlier this year, Swiatek defeated Gauff twice. The first time it was in the French Open final and the second time she defeated Gauff in the quarterfinal of the San Diego Open.

Interestingly, Gauff has a very poor record against Swiatek. While both the players are immensely talented, Swiatek leads the head-to-head chart five to nil.
