She made her way into the semi-finals of the tournament by defeating the Chinese player Qinwen Zheng. With the win, she has maintained her stellar record in all the grand slams this year. After winning the Australian Open earlier this year, she has now managed to reach the semi-finals in all other slams. Talking about the victory in the post-match press conference, she described her happiness while also shedding light on taking the number one spot in the WTA ranking.

Currently, Iga Swiatek holds the number 1 spot and Aryna expressed her views about taking that spot away from her after her stint in New York.

“Of course I’m happy. It’s really important for me & my family. I have some things to do in New York this year, so I’m trying to focus on my game. I’ll think about becoming world #1 after the US Open,” revealed Sabalenka in the interview.

As she gets ready to play in the semifinals of the US Open, Aryna Sabalenka is showing that she’s serious about her tennis career, and she’s not letting the idea of being the world’s number one player distract her from her immediate goals.

Talking about the WTA rankings, Aryna mentioned her father’s dream and how happy he was seeing her daughter succeed in her life.

Sabalenka recalls her father’s dreams of becoming the number 1

In a recent revelation, Aryna Sabalenka revealed her father’s desire to become the best in the world. In 2019, Sabalenka lost her father. However, she revealed that he always pushed her and always wanted her to be happy despite anything.

“I just saw how proud he was of me—how he was celebrating every win, every title—and he told me then that I have everything I needed to achieve this goal: I just had to learn myself better, to learn how to control my emotions, and one day I’d be world number one,” revealed Aryna Sabalenka in the interview.
