Twitter has been a brewing pot for controversies for the last year for different reasons. After Elon Musk purchased the platform, he rolled out several changes to it. However, the changes that he did before pale in comparison to the one that is about to take place. Musk is ready to call the platform ‘X’, which evoked immense backlash from almost everyone who heard the name. But Alexis Ohanian, husband of Serena Williams, is on board after looking at a fan-made logo for the platform.

While he spoke in support of a change for once, Ohanian has been against many of the changes Musk has implemented for Twitter. Most notably, he spoke out against the move, which required users to pay $8 for a verification badge.

Twitter has changed quite a bit in the last few months, and not many changes have been positive for the users of the platform. Along with the heavily controversial payment structure for verification, the platform introduced a scroll limit. Depending on the subscription basis, users could only scroll a particular number of Tweets in a day.

After these decisions, Musk recently announced that he would be changing the social media platform’s name and logo. The new proposed name is ‘X’, and the symbol will be the alphabet as well. While these decisions did not sit well with users, a fan-made emblem caught the eye of Alexis Ohanian.

The logo is a mix of ‘X’ and the classic bird symbol of Twitter. Ohanian quoted the post by saying, “Ship it @elonmusk“. Additionally, he also said, “It’s sick. As mascot/logo expert I give this a 10 out of 10“.

Ohanian, for once, partially supports one change implemented by the founder of SpaceX. But this instance is extremely rare, as the New Yorker usually isn’t in line with the changes witnessed in the microblogging site.

Alexis Ohanian worried for Twitter after the tick mark change

Before it was changed by Musk, the tick mark was given to those users who reached a particular amount of followers. But now, any user can buy the tick mark for $8 a month. Ohanian was not happy with the change, as he warned Twitter about going down the same path as another platform. Digg, Reddit’s predecessor, followed a similar strategy and crashed soon after.
