Ashlyn Krueger is rapidly climbing the WTA ranking with her remarkable talent on the court. The American player, currently ranked world number 69, has already won two rounds of the Madrid Open tournament this season. However, her connection to tennis runs deep in her genes. Born to an athletic mother, she considers that it was her mother who pushed her to pursue her dream of becoming a tennis player.

Ashlyn’s mother, Franchel Krueger, has a strong affinity for tennis. Krueger, who played tennis back in the early 1990s at Iowa State during her college days, was the one to introduce tennis to Ashlyn. Although she did not pursue her career in tennis, she built an intrigue in Ashlyn that helped her pursue tennis as a professional career. Krueger, on the other hand, has a background in employer group benefit sales and service.

Not only that, she also has seven years of experience in the life insurance industry, according to her LinkedIn bio. There, she has also stated how she began her career in Springfield, Missouri. There, she helped the agents at an insurance branch of a hospital with quotations, employee applications, and renewals.

However, amid all of this, she helped her daughter find her dream of playing tennis. And Ashlyn Krueger, who found the sport “a perfect combo” for her spirit, continued practicing as she grew up.

Her mother also explained how she never had to force Ashlyn to practice or perform better in tennis. This is because she noticed how her daughter found joy in playing tennis. “If there’s one thing I can say about Ashlyn, even before, it’s always been her driving the ship,” Krueger said. Although her mother pushed her to pursue her dreams of tennis, Krueger expressed how she drew inspiration by watching her tennis idol play the game on the court.

Ashlyn Krueger previously confessed how she started taking tennis “seriously” back when she was only 14 years old. Krueger, who “just had fun playing” the sport, enjoyed watching the US Open on television every year. However, apart from watching Serena Williams do her magic on the court, she drew inspiration from one other iconic player, Kim Clijsters. “She’d be a dream doubles partner,” Krueger said in an interview.

When Clijsters achieved her major title back in 2005, Ashlyn Krueger was only a year old. However, as she grew up, she stated that playing with her would be a dream come true for her. “She’s been an idol for me, for sure,” she further added. As she continues to show her prowess on the court, the tennis world prepares for her to maintain the legacy of her family and conquer her dreams on the court.
