Drake’s 2022 winter album release packed a punch with a direct hit aimed at Serena Williams‘ husband, Alexis Ohanian. “Middle of the Ocean” was more than a typical song; it contained several subtle references that caused people to take notice. However, their differences are still causing friction, even after two years of hostility. But the biggest question is: Did Drake really disrespect the 40-year-old?

It all started when, on the track, the Canadian rapper took a jab at Williams’ husband, Ohanian. The 37-year-old rapped on the song, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi.”

Drake, who was friends with Williams for a long time before becoming connected to her in 2015, has caused controversy by singing a song that criticizes Serena Williams and her husband. Although neither Drake nor the 23-time Grand Slam champion ever confirmed a relationship, there were rumors that they were dating in the early 2010s.

Regardless of the Canadian rapper’s intentions, Ohanian has shown prowess in the battle of wits with his response. Married to Williams since November 2017, the couple is now proud parents of two daughters. Following Drake’s apparent jab, Ohanian responded on Twitter by posting a picture of herself and her five-year-old daughter Olympia taken from the sidelines at one of Williams’ tennis matches.

Along with that, he wrote, “The reason I stay winning is because I’m relentless about being the absolute best at whatever I do — including being the best groupie for my wife & daughter.”

It’s not the first time Drake has made allusions to the tennis icon in his songs. Even though, Ohanian responded to Drake’s 2022 claim that he is a “groupie,” meaning that he supports his wife, Serena, with dignity. Drake also made reference to Serena in his 2013 song “Worst Behavior,” in which he boasted about perhaps defeating the 42-year-old American tennis legend in home tennis matches.

He sang, “I’m with my whole set, tennis matches at the crib / I swear I could beat Serena when she playin’ with her left.” However, even today, things are not good between Drake and Ohanian. Recently, as the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s tracks escalated with ‘Meet the Grahams’ and ‘Family Matters’, the 40-year-old American entrepreneur clearly displayed his support for Lamar.

Ohanian recently took to his Instagram account to mention how he likes to listen to the American rapper, amid the ongoing feud between the two rappers. In that story, he clearly highlighted how he is among the top listeners who follow the 36-year-old rapper diligently.

The ongoing dispute between rappers Drake and Lamar has taken a dangerous turn, as they have been making hurtful accusations against one another. The Canadian rapper accuses him of having a double life full of adultery, questioning Lamar’s child’s legitimacy, and claims that he physically mistreated his fiancée. But Ohanian’s backing gives the dispute a fresh perspective and deepens the jabs that the two rappers threw at one another.
