Playing the role of a mother and a professional tennis player altogether isn’t easy. And to do both of them efficiently isn’t everyone’s cup of tea! But Taylor Townsend is an exception. She has been juggling between winning titles and taking care of her baby since 14 March 2021. Townsend took an 18-month break from competitive tennis to give birth to her son, Adyn Aubrey. But in 2022, she made a strong comeback by reaching the first major final of her career at the US Open (doubles). A year later, she made her Top-5 debut. How hard has it been for her to make a comeback after having a C-section and giving birth to her son?

During a conversation on the WTA Insider Podcast, the 28-year-old fan favorite, Taylor Towsend discussed the challenges of living a full and balanced life as a professional tennis player. Does she have any specific schedule of when to work or when to take her time off? “After coming back, having AJ having a C-section, I didn’t know how my body was going to react. So for me, I was like, I’d rather go err on the side of caution and test it out. Come back, whatever feedback we get, and we work on that and then go back out.

She further went on to add, “And then the following year, then I kind of dove even deeper last year, dove even deeper.” How does she manage to balance her load and schedules to find that consistency on that court? Well, Townsend said she has a good understanding with her coach and they communicate with each other regarding her progress. She knows her job and her dreams so she always pushes her to achieve extraordinary fears in her career. But at times it really becomes difficult even for the ‘super-mama’.

Last year, she said she had to do a lot of uncomfortable things and take some really tough calls. “I did that a lot last year. I spent three months away from my son. That was really hard and that was a huge challenge for me. But I did it and I got through it, so I know that I can do it now. I don’t want to do it but I know I can,” Taylor Townsend revealed. Last year she shared a glimpse of her dual life playing the role of a mother and a player on the tour with her fans on social media.

Taylor Townsend had then just won a W25 Claremont title and was getting ready to represent her nation in the BJK Cup final. But shortly after winning the title, she had to head straight back to her parenting duties as her son felt sick. She shared a picture with her son on her Instagram stories and wrote, “Sick baby means mom stays home.

In another video, she was seen hugging her little kid. “I am so tired,” Townsend months at the end of that video. In another story, she posted a glimpse of her trying to catch a breath whilst watching her son through the baby webcam. She wrote in captions, “Sunday I win a title, Wednesday it’s this… I’m worn out already.” Share what are your thoughts on these ‘super-mamas’ of the tennis world.
