During an exclusive interview with People, the 19-year-old Gauff revealed that she won’t be following in the footsteps of Serena. The American star confessed that Serena is the G.O.A.T. and that she’ll be one of a kind.
Talking about it, Gauff revealed, “I don’t think anybody will [take Serena’s mantle] because she’s just one of a kind. But I will try my best to be the best Coco.” Further, Gauff also went on to explain the pressure that comes with comparison to Serena. However, she had a different point of view, saying, “It does put a little bit less pressure in a way because she is the greatest player of all time.”

During an interview, she said, “Sometimes I guess it increases the pressure because I know that this community of people, the community of people of color, black people, look up to me a lot.” Like Serena, Gauff too is creating a wave of change by inspiring the community to emerge with their best.
