What did doctors say?

Simona Halep suffered a left thigh injury during the second set of her semifinal match at Indian Wells. The injury forced her to take a medical timeout at 1-2 in the second set. Examining her condition, the physio taped Halep’s thigh, giving her the leverage to finish the match. After experiencing pain in the same leg in Miami, Simona opted to see a doctor and get examined.

As told by Halep in her withdrawal announcement tweet, the treatment has also speculated a minimum resting period of three weeks. As per the head doctor of the Miami Open, Halep, at the earliest can play in Madrid. However, it is not as smooth as it looks. Halep’s return to Madrid will largely be dependent on her body. As per the doctor, Halep can only return to Madrid if her body responds positively to the medication and the recovery methods being used.

Being in form, Halep showed no mercy in outplaying Petra Martic in the quarterfinals. Being confident about her game, Halep went on to play the 3rd seeded Iga Swiatek in the semifinals. Not willing to go home at this stage, both players went neck-to-neck in the first set; with Swiatek winning in the tiebreaker. However, Halep’s powerful game was disrupted by a thigh injury in the second set. Giving room to Iga to cruise into the finals.
