Emma Raducanu lost in the her first match after the US Open 2021. Arriving in Indian Wells as a wildcard, she lost to Aliaksandra Sasnovich in straight sets. The final scoreline of the match read 6-2, 6-4. The fairytale had to end sometime for the young star and it ended soon after her incredible triumph.

Raducanu couldn’t recreate her US Open form in the desert. She converted just two break-points and had a win percentage of just 61% on her first serve.

After Raducanu’s defeat at the Indian Wells 2021, tennis legend Martina Navratilova believes there is nothing much that she can take away much from her last game. She explained that it is just her fifth tour tournament and thus, it is not the right to presume anything about her gameplay since nobody knows how she plays on all the surfaces as of now.

“This match maybe not that much (what Raducanu would takeaway from the match). But, look, this is her fifth tournament and we have no idea how she plays on different surfaces,” said Navratilova in the interview.

“Life has changed so much”- Navratilova on Raducanu

Navratilova highlighted that life turned upside down for Raducanu after her US Open 2021 glory. She mentioned that the British star doesn’t know how to handle it as of now, but can only improve her performances by featuring in more and more matches.

“I think has life has changed so much. She doesn’t quite know how to handle it yet. Nobody has been there in this position before. She’s blazing her own trail. So, it’s more about how she manages herself off the court… There is just so much stuff that is going on with her. She just needs matches,” added the 18-time Grand Slam winner.

Nobody knows where will Emma Raducanu play after her defeat at the Indian Wells 2021. Fans still have huge expectations from her and want her to make a phenomenal comeback on the court. Will she be able to end the year among the top 20 WTA players?
