Croatian tennis player and former world no 19 player Donna Vekic, who regularly makes the news for her on and off-court antics, is back at it again. Playing in the San Diego Open, The Croat made it to the quarter-finals but couldn’t manage to outclass her opponent Katie Boulter. She was defeated 6-4, 6-3, in straight sets. Adding a fun element to her acceptance of the loss, Vekic posted an intriguing picture of herself on social media.
After the match against Boulter, instead of being dejected, Vekic portrayed good sportsmanship and class as she indulged in some light-hearted self-deprecating humor.

Donna Vekic couldn’t advance further than the round of 16 in the Dubai Open last month but showed positive signs by defeating world no. 2, Aryna Sabalenka. Sadly, she couldn’t display the same spark against Boulter in the San Diego Open. However, the Croat displayed an acute sense of humor when she took to Instagram after the match.

In the picture that Vekic shared, she could be seen inspecting a garbage bin from the outside. Along with that, she wrote ” looking for my forehand”. The post was retweeted by Portuguese journalist and tennis commentator, Jose Morgado who found it quite amusing as the tennis sensation is known for thundering cross-court forehands. Morgado posted Vekic’s Instagram story on X.

At the Grass Court Championships Berlin last year, Donna Vekic fell agonizingly short of clinching her second title within the same year. In the finals, she met two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova who defeated her in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6.

Although ending up on the losing side, the Croat displayed impressive skills. One of her blazing laser-guided forehands won over the fans, resulting in one of them expressing the desire to have her forehand. Vekic, however, remained in high spirits even after suffering a loss and jokingly responded by saying she bought it off on eBay.
