Japanese superstar Naomi Osaka had an outstanding last few years on the WTA tour. The former World no.1 has won four Grand Slam titles so far, both Australian Open and the US open (two times each). However, after withdrawing from the French Open last year, Naomi Osaka hasn’t been the same player. She took a break from tennis because of mental health issues. Due to her lack of matches on the tour, she is now struggling to find her form.

Despite all the issues, she is one of the richest athletes on the planet. Back in 2019, Naomi signed a deal with Nike. Since then, she has been wearing Nike shoes and gears on the tennis court. After the deal, Nike released their first commercial with her.

Naomi Osaka became really popular after winning the US Open back in 2018, by beating Serena Williams in the finals. Her nature and way of speaking were pretty unique and likable. The next year, she won the Australian Open as well to announce her arrival in the tennis world. She got many offers from various brands and Nike was one of them.

After the deal, Nike made a commercial with Naomi which is still pretty popular around the world. The commercial showed a number of people asking Naomi questions, and Naomi responded to all of them with tennis. The main tagline for that commercial was, “Don’t change yourself. Change the world.”

Naomi needs to improve her rankings

At the moment, many are questioning Osaka’s form on the tennis court. It seems like she doesn’t have an answer at all. She is currently ranked-80 in the world and needs to improve her performance level in the next few tournaments to climb up in the WTA rankings. Because, with her current ranking, the four-time Grand Slam winner will struggle to qualify for them.

Recently, Indian Wells announced that she will get a wild card entry in the tournament. This was truly great news for Osaka, as she said, “To return to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, the place I won my first big event, it’s special. It was special in 2018 and it will be special again this March.”
