Williams and Serena Williams are undoubtedly two of the best tennis players of all time. The two have achieved unparalleled success as individual players over the years. Not to forget, they form a lethal doubles pair as well. Currently, both of them are preparing for the American hard court season. While Serena made a comeback at the Wimbledon Championships in singles the last month, Venus also played mixed doubles.

Behind the success, there’s always a lot of hard work and dedication. Both of them have made many sacrifices to reach where they are today. Interestingly, they also sacrificed their summer vacations for the same.

Serena Williams about not taking a summer vacation
In a video from the year 2000, Serena and Venus were discussing the various factors that affect their performance. When asked about the summer vacation, they denied having one. Here’s how Serena replied.
“Most times Wimbledon and the US Open, that’s too much. We don’t have a summer vacation,” she said. Further, she revealed what it takes to win the US Open.

“It takes a lot of focus, a lot of concentration, and maybe even little luck, but I think most of all it takes a lot of focus and a lot of concentration to go ahead and go out and win this tournament,” she added.

Today, both Serena and Venus are among the top active players. While Serena has won 23 Grand Slam titles, Venus has won 7. Their dedication and hard work surely paid off.

Serena starts practicing
After failing in her comeback tournament, Serena has started preparing for the hard court season. She has signed up to play in the Toronto National Bank open after that she will also feature in the Cincinnati Masters tournament. As the action starts for her in the next month, the 40-year-old has started practicing in her hometown.

In a recent Instagram story posted by American tennis player Sachia Vickery, she revealed having a practice session with the 40-year-old. Notably, Venus was also present there and practiced with Vickery later.

The former world number 1 has won the US Open six times in her career, which is joint highest in the open era. Also, Serena is just one Grand Slam title away from equaling the most Grand Slam titles.
