Tennis is a popular sport comprising a small community. There are fans around the whole world of a small number of players. Being an individual sport, the tennis fraternity seems like a close-knit family. This is something the tennis star Serena Williams agrees with too.

With the loss of former British no. 1 Elena Baltacha in 2014, the tennis realm came together to mourn the loss of a colleague. Serena Williams talked about how her demise brought everyone together.

Former world no. 1 turned pro in 1995 and is still active on the tennis circuit. Seeing the game and the tennis fraternity up close, the player knows the essence of the sport. Back in 2014, Serena Williams was active on the court for almost two decades. She said, “Tennis is a family. I try to get along with everyone.” Furthermore, she said, “I don’t have beef with anyone. In fact, I actually miss people.”

After that, she talked about the loss of the British player Elena Baltacha. She stated, “We play each other, but at the end of the day, when things happen — like with Bally — everyone comes together.” Wrapping its essence into one sentence, she said, “It’s never about any one person; it’s about everyone together.”

The remorseful demise of the British player affected the tennis players who had played with her. She had suffered from liver cancer and had passed away at the young age of 30. She had immigrated from Ukraine and settled in Scotland with her family. Andy Murray, Jamie, and Judy Murray were good friends of Bally, who were spotted teary-eyed at the Madrid Open in 2014 while paying a tribute to her.

Andy Murray has always had Serena Williams’ back. They both share a wonderful friendship and Murray never misses letting Williams get her due share of credit for the glorious career she has made for herself.

During a press conference too, he had corrected a reporter when he had referred to Sam Querrey as the first American player to reach the semi-finals of a major since 2009. To this Murry had corrected him by saying, “first male player” as Serena Williams had won majors during that time period.
