With the loss of former British no. 1 Elena Baltacha in 2014, the tennis realm came together to mourn the loss of a colleague. Serena Williams talked about how her demise brought everyone together.

Former world no. 1 turned pro in 1995 and is still active on the tennis circuit. Seeing the game and the tennis fraternity up close, the player knows the essence of the sport. Back in 2014, Serena Williams was active on the court for almost two decades. She said, “Tennis is a family. I try to get along with everyone.” Furthermore, she said, “I don’t have beef with anyone. In fact, I actually miss people.”

After that, she talked about the loss of the British player Elena Baltacha. She stated, “We play each other, but at the end of the day, when things happen — like with Bally — everyone comes together.” Wrapping its essence into one sentence, she said, “It’s never about any one person; it’s about everyone together.”

The remorseful demise of the British player affected the tennis players who had played with her. She had suffered from liver cancer and had passed away at the young age of 30. She had immigrated from Ukraine and settled in Scotland with her family. Andy Murray, Jamie, and Judy Murray were good friends of Bally, who were spotted teary-eyed at the Madrid Open in 2014 while paying a tribute to her.
