As the 2024 season is about to begin, fans are excited to see some WTA stars like Naomi Osaka, Caroline Wozniacki, and Angelique Kerber dominating on the court. Not to forget, while Wozniacki played in the Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, and the US Open. The other two had to pause in 2023 for maternity break. Osaka gave birth to her daughter Shai this year with rapper partner, Cordae. She is attending the upcoming Brisbane International as a practice tournament before the next season’s first Grand Slam event. Schett believes that among the three of them, only Wozniacki might stay longer in the tournament since she played three tournaments in 2023. Schett commented- “Wozniacki has a bit of an advantage because she’s had matches already and played unbelievably at the US Open,”

Compared to her, both Osaka and Kerber had to pause their professional tennis for a year over motherhood. Now, this long pause can impact the skills of both. However, a lot depends on the training of the three tennis players. Barbara Schett further delved into her comment and brought up her reasons.

She said, “You just have to give yourself a bit of time to get used to the environment, because you can practice as much as you want, but you don’t know how you’re reacting when you’re standing on centre court.” Since Osaka and Kerber might take some time to produce their best game, Schett feels that Wozniacki has a better chance.
