Former Australian tennis star Ash Barty shocked everyone when she decided to retire from tennis. At just 25, Barty was in her prime. The former world number 1 won the Australian Open title earlier this year. Unfortunately for her fans, it was the last time we saw her hold a racket in hand.

Now that she has left tennis, Barty is busy playing golf and enjoying her life away from the court. However, it’s natural to expect the former world number 1 to still follow tennis, but the 26-year-old has retired from watching the sport as well.

“I didn’t watch this year’s Wimbledon finals…Sorry to disappoint. Obviously, I was rapt for Ons and Elena, who are both brilliant girls,” she said.

Further, she also gave her reason for not watching tennis.

“Since retiring, I’ve probably watched as many matches as I did when I was playing, which was slim to none…I hit enough tennis balls in my life. I don’t need to see others hitting them as well,” she added.

Although it’s a valid point from the former tennis star, it would certainly disappoint her tennis fans that she is not interested in the sport anymore.
