Williams’ sisters have made a name for themselves by being the best in their field. Both Serena Williams and Venus Williams had been the top tier players and were facing each other in a lot of grand slam finals.

Amelie Mauresmo accused Venus and Serena Williams of match-fixing

Amelie Mauresmo had an arch rivalry with Williams’ sisters. After her defeat at the hands of Serena Williams, Amelie Mauresmo spoke about the Williams sisters’ finals. When she was asked about who would prevail as the winner in the finals, she had sternly replied, “You have to ask them for that”. She had accused the Williams sisters of match fixing. She said, “I think they arrange it – I don’t have any proof of this or inside information, but take, for example, the match at Roland Garros – it could have been arranged.”

Furthermore, she said, “As Serena won in Paris, maybe they’ll change it and it’ll be Venus’ turn now.”

What was wrong with the duo’s dynamics?

Mauresmo showed discontent over the repetition of the finals, where Serena Williams and Venus Williams were facing each other at the finals of the grand slams. They had aced each other in three majors’ finals out of the last four ones. She said, “I think people are going to get bored of it.”

She also thought that Williams’ sisters being the top two layers is not great for the women’s tennis. Mauresmo said, “I’m not counting how many people since yesterday told me: We don’t want an all-Williams final. To me, it’s a little bit sad for women’s tennis but maybe it’s not the point of view of everybody.”

However, the careers of both the sisters are the biggest evidences to refute such claims. Except both being world no. 1 players, there is hardly any commonality between them. Serena Williams is a 23-time grand slam champion and Venus Williams is a seven-timer.

At present, Serena Williams is gearing up for a comeback at the Wimbledon and Venus Williams is in high spirits to support her sister.
