Get ready to rally as the Dubai Tennis Championships return to keep the WTA rhythm alive! This year, it will feature 8 out of the top 10 tennis players, starting from the recent Australian Open champion, Aryna Sabalenka, to the world number one, Iga Swiatek. However, there are a few differences this year compared to last. For example, the defending champion won’t be a part of the event.

On the other hand, the price of money for this year has also changed. While the main draw of the event will start on February 18, the WTA 1000 tournament has seen a rise in price from what was presented last year.

On the other hand, the WTA Dubai champion will get $523,485, which in itself is 15.2% more than last year. Not only has the price of the champion increased, but the other levels of the tournament have also seen a rise in the money context. The runner-up of the tournament will receive $308,320, and the semi-finalist – $158,944. Just like that, the quarter-finalist will get $72,965.

From the final, as the level comes down to the first round of the tournament, the qualifying loser will get just $8,000, which is only 4.6% more than what was there last year. Moreover, the first round money is $800 less than what it was in Doha, and a lot of big names will fight to lift the WTA Dubai championship this year.

ATP Dubai sees a lower rise than WTA

The prize pool for the women’s division of the competition is more than $3 million, while the ATP division has a separate prize pool. The total prize money awarded to the men’s tennis players by the competition this year is $2,941,785, an increase of only 3.02% over last year, it seems.

Even though the percentage rise in prize money may not be the issue, it does differ from what the WTA has this year and puts them in the lead for dollars. The total prize money in 2023 was around $2,855,495; however, the women’s division had a slightly smaller prize money pool of $2,788,468 the previous year.
